Our nine-year old twin grandsons came for a week-long visit. The boys live several hours away so Hubby and I wanted to make this an extra-fun vacation for them. The week is now past, but our memories live on…
We put together hiking sticks, complete with a large handkerchief for wiping off sweaty foreheads on a hot day. The boys each had a hiking cap, gloves to avoid blisters, and a fanny-pack to carry food and water.
We ate a picnic lunch then hiked along a path in the woods.
We looked for interesting things along the trail
We saw pond turtles sunning themselves on logs, wild strawberries, and bugs. But the boys liked the snails hanging on the tree trunks and plants the best.
After the hike we stopped at a cool, shaded playground.
Both boys enjoy craft projects and we completed plenty during the week. They cut, pasted, colored, and painted.
Our neighbor let us come over while their cows were milked.
The boys picked mulberries and we made fruit roll-ups from the berry juice.
